What does Islam say about forgiveness for wronging others?

Forgiving others is not an easy thing to do, but the accomplishment of this test takes the form of a great blessing. Thus, revenge should not be a characteristic of a Muslim. Development Forgiveness and mercy are qualities of the Prophet (sallAllahu 'alayhi wa salam) that every Muslim should strive to develop as personality traits. To forgive in a lasting manner and without rancour, the Muslim should no longer consider that person as an enemy, but rather as a test of this world. Furthermore, it is important to ensure that the choice of punishment is Allah's (sufanu wa ta'ala) and that He will deal with the person here on earth or in the Hereafter. Forgiveness is of paramount importance in the life of a Muslim as breaking the bonds of brotherhood with a brother or sister is strongly discouraged. "He who breaks with his brother in religion for a year will be considered as if he had spilled his blood. (Sahih al-Bukhari) "Do not break your bonds of brotherhood; do not turn away from one another; do not be envious of one another; rather be brothers, as Allah has commanded you." (Sahih al-Muslim) Many believers do not overcome the difficulty of forgiving their loved one following an infidelity. However, a sense of compassion can replace this hateful hatred when one knows the punishment reserved for unfaithful people in married life. "Three people will be deprived of being sanctified or addressed by Allah and will be exposed to a painful punishment on the Day of Resurrection: an old adulterer, a lying king and an arrogant pauper." (Sahih al-Muslim) Finally, it should be remembered that the greatest Forgiver is Allah (subhanu wa ta'ala) and that He is also the One who is able to administer the heaviest punishments.
