Mandoub (Recommended)

One of the five classifications of actions in Islamic law (the other four are fard/wajib, obligatory; makruh, discouraged; halal, permissible; and haram, prohibited). Refers to actions that are not required by law but are considered to be meritorious. Legal theorists generally contend that if one neglects these recommended acts, there is no punishment. Another common term used to denote the same category of practices is mustahabb.
