EVIDENCES REGARDING WOMEN Allah says: "Men are the protectors and maintainers of women, because Allah has made one of them to excel the other, and because they spend (to support them) from their means. Therefore, the righteous women are devoutly obedient (to Allah and to their husbands), and guard in the husband's absence what Allah orders them to guard (e.g., their chastity and their husband's property).'' (An-Nisa 4:34) Abu Hurairah (RA) reported: Messenger of Allah (SAW) said, "When a man calls his wife to his bed, and she does not respond and he (the husband) spends the night angry with her, the angels curse her until morning." (Sahih al-Bukhari and Muslim) I went to the Apostle of Allah (saw) and asked him: What do you say (command) about our wives? He replied: Give them food what you have for yourself, and clothe them by which you clothe yourself, and do not beat them, and do not revile them "I asked the Prophet (saw): Who has the greatest right over a woman? He (saw) said: Her husband. I said: And who has the greatest right over a man? He (saw) saiid: His mother." (Al-Haakim - taken from Fiqh As-Sunnah) The Messenger of Allah (SAW) said, "When a woman spends the night away from the bed of her husband, the angels curse her until morning." (Sahih al-Bukhari and Muslim) The Messenger of Allah (saw) said, "By Him in Whose Hand is my life, when a man calls his wife to his bed, and she does not respond, the One Who is above the heaven becomes displeased with her until he (her husband) becomes pleased with her." (Sahih al-Bukhari and Muslim) The Messenger of Allah (saw) said, "It is not lawful for a woman to observe (voluntary) fasting without the permission of her husband when he is at home; and she should not allow anyone to enter his house without his permission." (Sahih al-Bukhari and Muslim) The Prophet (saw) said, "All of you are guardians and are responsible for your subjects. The ruler is a guardian of his subjects, the man is a guardian of his family, the woman is a guardian and is responsible for her husband's house and his offspring; and so all of you are guardians and are responsible for your subjects.'' (Sahih al-Bukhari and Muslim) The Messenger of Allah (saw) said, "When a man calls his wife to satisfy his desire, she must go to him even if she is occupied with the oven." (Tirmidhi and An-Nasa'i) The Messenger of Allah (saw) said, "Any woman dies while her husband is pleased with her, she will enter Jannah." (Tirmidhi) The Prophet (saw) said, "Whenever a woman harms her husband in this world (that is without any due right), his wife among the (Houris in Jannah) says: `You must not harm him. May Allah destroy you! He is only a passing guest with you and is about to leave you to come to us." (Tirmidhi) The Prophet (saw) said, "I am not leaving behind me a more harmful trial for men than women." (Sahih al-Bukhari and Muslim) The Prophet (saw) said, "Women are ungrateful to their husbands and are ungrateful for the favours and the good (charitable) deeds done to them. If you have always been good (benevolent) to one of them and then she sees something in you (not of her liking), she will say, 'I have never received any good from you." (Sahih al-Bukhari) The Prophet (saw) said, "A woman is closest to God's face, if she is found in the core of her house. And the prayer of the woman in the house is better than her prayer in the mosque." (Tirmidhi) The Prophet (saw) said, "There are three (persons) whose prayer will not be accepted, nor their virtues be taken above: The runaway slave until he returns back to his master, the woman with whom her husband is dissatisfied, and the drunk until he becomes sober." (Mishkat al-Masabih) The Prophet (saw) said "Whosoever female dies while her husband is pleased with her, will enter Paradise." (Mishkat al-Masabih) The prophet once said to a woman: 'Watch how you treat your husband for he is your Paradise and your Hell." (Suyuti) The Prophet (saw) said "Had I ordered anybody to prostrate before any one, I would have ordered women to prostrate before their husbands on account of men's rights over the women ordained by Allah." (Abu Dawood, Ahmad, Tirmidhi, Ibn Majah)
