Why don't people know there never was a nation or state called Palestine?

Most people don't also realise:
The unification of Germany didn't happen until 1871, before then, there was no Germany
Italian unification didn't take place until 1918, before then, there was no Italy
Until 1947 there was no Pakistan and until 1971 there was no Bangladesh
The territory is and has for centuries been known as Palestine in Arabic, English and Hebrew.
