For most of us in the West, it seems a little unusual why Islam spreads its ideas. This is due to the fact we see it as a religion and in our societies religions have been reduced to a personal faith whilst other beliefs systems such as capitalism, democracy, socialism etc have taken over social life. They do promote and propagate themselves as we have seen over the centuries.

It is probably better to consider Islam in such a light - ie as an ideology. The reason Islam expects its followers to spread the call is because as a divinely ordained complete way of life it provides society with peace, stability and prosperity, ensuring just rule and resources are allocated properly and fairly and seeks to eliminate conflict.

No other system does this so they try to replace them by this system in the interests of humanity.
