Why is it that a lot of Chinese people don't feel oppressed by their regime?

When I was younger I thought Western people were oppressed by their regimes. I had been told capitalism is bad and people under it suffer.
No doubt your government told you how evil communism was.
With the increasing communications between China and the rest of the world, I can finally see what the world is like and how people live in other countries.
We are all "brain-washed" in some way, the difference is that most people in China now are able to see that the West is not as bad as they were told, but many Westerners still believe what they were told and think China as evil Communist country.
