Why are some Muslims celebrating Jumada al-Awwal 17, 1442 AH?

It's not for either of the two eids nor is there a collective cause to celebrate for all Muslims.

Perhaps for those Muslims in the northern hemisphere, they're simply celebrating the end of the shortest day of daylight and the beginning of lengthening daylight days? But if so, they're 10 days too late.

Maybe they're celebrating the reset of the Christian Gregorian calendar. But why would a calendar designed to keep the Christian festival of Easter roughly the same time every year be any cause of celebration for Muslims?

So what could it be?

Nothing in the world has principally changed. So why would any Muslim would be collectively celebrating an arbitrary day is beyond any realm to intellectual account for.

Could it be that some Muslims are just copying what their Western non-Muslim neighbours are doing?

No, surely not! Why would Muslims ever copy whatever arbitrary festivals or cultural practices other people are doing?

It's not like we don't have a guide from the Creator of all existence as to what we should celebrate and be thankful for, and what is simply just an arbitrary human invention linked to pre-Islamic invented festivals of a people unenlightened by the deen of Islam, right?

Surely Muslims wouldn't celebrate anything not mandated in our deen to celebrate...

Anas ibn Malik reported:

The Messenger of Allah (saw) arrived in Medina during two days in which they were celebrating. The Prophet said, “What are these two days?” They said, “We would celebrate these two days in the time of ignorance.” The Prophet said, “Verily, Allah has replaced these two days with two better days: Eid al-Adha and Eid al-Fitr.” (Abu Dawd 1134)
