In a Nutshell:

Muslims celebrate two major Eids: Eid al-Fitr and Eid al-Adha. Eid al-Fitr commemorates the end of Ramadan, a month of fasting. Eid al-Adha commemorates the willingness of Prophet Ibrahim (as) to sacrifice his son. Both Eids involve special congregational prayers, giving gifts, visiting relatives, wearing new clothes and sharing festive meals. Charity, forgiveness and gratitude to Allah (swt) are central themes of Eid celebrations.
