Prophet Mohamed (saw) married the following women:

  1. Khadeejah bint Khuwaylid: She was the first of his wives. The Prophet married her when he was 25 old and she was 40, and he did not take another wife until after she died and the marriage lasted 25 years. All his children were born from her, except Ibraheem
  2. Sawdah bint Zam'ah ibn Qays: He was 50 and she was 55, she was a widow with children.
  3. Aisha bint Abi Bakr al-Siddeeq: He was54 and she was6 years old, and he consummated the marriage with her when I was 9.
  4. Hafsah bint 'Umar: He was55 and she was21 years old, she was a widow.
  5. Zaynab bint Khuzaymah: He was56 and she was30 years old, she was a widow and she passed away 8 months after the marriage.
  6. Umm Salamah bint Abi Umayyah: He was56 and she was27 years old.
  7. Juwayriyah bint al-Haarith: He was58 and she was15 years old.
  8. Zaynab bint Jahsh: He was58 and she was38 years old., she was divorced.
  9. Umm Habeebah bint Abi Sufyaan: He was59 and she was42 years old.
  10. Maymoonah bint al-Haarith: He was59 and she was 36 years old.
  11. Safiyyah bint Huyayy ibn Akhtab: He was59 and she was 17 years old.

Out of 11 wives, he only married 1 virgin and "Aisha" and he married only once before the Prophethood "Khadeejah" for 25 years until she died and he did not combine any wives with her, he married later on widows and this all shows that the sexual desire was not the driving factor in his marriage decisions.

Multiple marriages wasn't uncommon in the era of prophet Mohamed, there were also reasons behind these marriages such as establishing good relations with different tribes, setting an example of marrying widows and women who lost their husbands at war.

The Prophet (saw) married women at different ages, as for the case with Aisha which sounds uncommon today and before assessing it we need to understand that this took place 1400+ years ago, different culture and different era.

It was never reported this marriage was criticised at that time even by the enemies of prophet Mohamed, in other words we can conclude that this was common and accepted at that era.
