How often does the word nation (qawm) appear in the Qur'an?

Islamic scholarship over the centuries was produced in the context of an Islamic civilisation, with some writing about social affairs, structures and institutions and others about the individual and self, providing a balanced coverage. Contemporary European thinking however exaggerates the significance of the self, individual and personal to such a degree, the reading of our revelation is distorted by this emphasis, marginalising the important and fundamental collective dimensions of revelation. The word qawm (nation) appears 597 times in the Qur'an whilst the nafs (soul) in contrast is mentioned 270 times. The high frequency of this term and cognates like ummah, ahl and naas (communities, clans and peoples) is due to the fact revelation has been sent to reform nations, providing the context within which people live and develop. So repent to your Creator and kill yourselves. That is best for [all of] you in the sight of your Creator." Then He accepted your repentance; Indeed, He is the Accepting of repentance, the Merciful. (Qur’an 2:54) وَإِذِ اسْتَسْقَىٰ مُوسَىٰ لِقَوْمِهِ فَقُلْنَا اضْرِبْ بِعَصَاكَ الْحَجَرَ ۖ فَانْفَجَرَتْ مِنْهُ اثْنَتَا عَشْرَةَ عَيْنًا ۖ قَدْ عَلِمَ كُلُّ أُنَاسٍ مَشْرَبَهُمْ ۖ كُلُوا وَاشْرَبُوا مِنْ رِزْقِ اللَّهِ وَلَا تَعْثَوْا فِي الْأَرْضِ مُفْسِدِينَ (البقرة ٦٠) And [recall] when Moses prayed for water for his NATION, so We said, "Strike with your staff the stone." And there gushed forth from it twelve springs, and every NATION knew its watering place. "Eat and drink from the provision of Allah, and do not commit abuse on the earth, spreading corruption." (Qur’an 2:60) وَإِذْ قَالَ مُوسَىٰ لِقَوْمِهِ إِنَّ اللَّهَ يَأْمُرُكُمْ أَنْ تَذْبَحُوا بَقَرَةً ۖ قَالُوا أَتَتَّخِذُنَا هُزُوًا ۖ قَالَ أَعُوذُ بِاللَّهِ أَنْ أَكُونَ مِنَ الْجَاهِلِينَ (البقرة ٦٧) And [recall] when Moses said to his NATION, "Indeed, Allah commands you to slaughter a cow." They said, "Do you take us in ridicule?" He said, "I seek refuge in Allah from being among the ignorant." (Qur’an 2:67) وَقَالَ الَّذِينَ لَا يَعْلَمُونَ لَوْلَا يُكَلِّمُنَا اللَّهُ أَوْ تَأْتِينَا آيَةٌ ۗ كَذَٰلِكَ قَالَ الَّذِينَ مِنْ قَبْلِهِمْ مِثْلَ قَوْلِهِمْ ۘ تَشَابَهَتْ قُلُوبُهُمْ ۗ قَدْ بَيَّنَّا الْآيَاتِ لِقَوْمٍ يُوقِنُونَ (البقرة ١١٨) Those who do not know say, "Why does Allah not speak to us or there come to us a sign?" Thus spoke those before them like their words. Their hearts resemble each other. We have shown clearly the signs to a NATION who are certain [in faith]. (Qur’an 2:118) وَتَصْرِيفِ الرِّيَاحِ وَالسَّحَابِ الْمُسَخَّرِ بَيْنَ السَّمَاءِ وَالْأَرْضِ لَآيَاتٍ لِقَوْمٍ يَعْقِلُونَ (البقرة ١٦٤) And [His] directing of the winds and the clouds controlled between the heaven and the earth are signs for a NATION who use reason. (Qur’an 2:164) وَتِلْكَ حُدُودُ اللَّهِ يُبَيِّنُهَا لِقَوْمٍ يَعْلَمُونَ (البقرة ٢٣٠) These are the limits of Allah, which He makes clear to a NATION who know. (Qur’an 2:230) وَلَمَّا بَرَزُوا لِجَالُوتَ وَجُنُودِهِ قَالُوا رَبَّنَا أَفْرِغْ عَلَيْنَا صَبْرًا وَثَبِّتْ أَقْدَامَنَا وَانْصُرْنَا عَلَى الْقَوْمِ الْكَافِرِينَ (البقرة ٢٥٠) And when they went forth to [face] Goliath and his soldiers, they said, "Our Lord, pour upon us patience and plant firmly our feet and give us victory over the disbelieving NATION." (Qur’an 2:250) وَاللَّهُ لَا يَهْدِي الْقَوْمَ الظَّالِمِينَ (البقرة ٢٥٨) Allah does not guide the oppressive NATION. (Qur’an 2:258) يَا أَيُّهَا الَّذِينَ آمَنُوا لَا تُبْطِلُوا صَدَقَاتِكُمْ بِالْمَنِّ وَالْأَذَىٰ كَالَّذِي يُنْفِقُ مَالَهُ رِئَاءَ النَّاسِ وَلَا يُؤْمِنُ بِاللَّهِ وَالْيَوْمِ الْآخِرِ ۖ ... وَاللَّهُ لَا يَهْدِي الْقَوْمَ الْكَافِرِينَ (البقرة ٢٦٤) O you who have believed, do not invalidate your charities with reminders or injury as does one who spends his wealth [only] to be seen by the NATION and does not believe in Allah and the Last Day ... And Allah does not guide the disbelieving NATION. (Qur’an 2:264) أَنْتَ مَوْلَانَا فَانْصُرْنَا عَلَى الْقَوْمِ الْكَافِرِينَ (البقرة ٢٨٦) You are our protector, so give us victory over the disbelieving NATION." (Qur’an 2:286) كَيْفَ يَهْدِي اللَّهُ قَوْمًا كَفَرُوا بَعْدَ إِيمَانِهِمْ وَشَهِدُوا أَنَّ الرَّسُولَ حَقٌّ وَجَاءَهُمُ الْبَيِّنَاتُ ۚ وَاللَّهُ لَا يَهْدِي الْقَوْمَ الظَّالِمِينَ (آل عمران ٨٦) How shall Allah guide a NATION who disbelieved after their belief and had witnessed that the Messenger is true and clear signs had come to them? And Allah does not guide the oppressive NATION. (Qur’an 3:86) مَثَلُ مَا يُنْفِقُونَ فِي هَٰذِهِ الْحَيَاةِ الدُّنْيَا كَمَثَلِ رِيحٍ فِيهَا صِرٌّ أَصَابَتْ حَرْثَ قَوْمٍ ظَلَمُوا أَنْفُسَهُمْ فَأَهْلَكَتْهُ ۚ (آل عمران ١١٧) The example of what they spend in this worldly life is like that of a wind containing frost which strikes the harvest of a NATION who have wronged themselves and destroys it. (Qur’an 3:117) إِنْ يَمْسَسْكُمْ قَرْحٌ فَقَدْ مَسَّ الْقَوْمَ قَرْحٌ مِثْلُهُ ۚ وَتِلْكَ الْأَيَّامُ نُدَاوِلُهَا بَيْنَ النَّاسِ وَلِيَعْلَمَ اللَّهُ الَّذِينَ آمَنُوا وَيَتَّخِذَ مِنْكُمْ شُهَدَاءَ ۗ (آل عمران ١٤٠) If a wound should touch you - there has already touched the [opposing] NATION a wound similar to it. And these days [of varying conditions] We alternate among the NATION so that Allah may make evident those who believe and [may] take to Himself from among you martyrs. (Qur’an 3:140) فَمَالِ هَٰؤُلَاءِ الْقَوْمِ لَا يَكَادُونَ يَفْقَهُونَ حَدِيثًا (النساء ٧٨) So what is [the matter] with those NATIONS that they can hardly understand any statement? (Qur’an 4:78) إِلَّا الَّذِينَ يَصِلُونَ إِلَىٰ قَوْمٍ بَيْنَكُمْ وَبَيْنَهُمْ مِيثَاقٌ أَوْ جَاءُوكُمْ حَصِرَتْ صُدُورُهُمْ أَنْ يُقَاتِلُوكُمْ أَوْ يُقَاتِلُوا قَوْمَهُمْ ۚ وَلَوْ شَاءَ اللَّهُ لَسَلَّطَهُمْ عَلَيْكُمْ فَلَقَاتَلُوكُمْ ۚ (النساء ٩٠) Except for those who take refuge with a NATION between yourselves and whom is a treaty or those who come to you, their hearts strained at [the prospect of] fighting you or fighting their own NATION. (Qur’an 4:90) سَتَجِدُونَ آخَرِينَ يُرِيدُونَ أَنْ يَأْمَنُوكُمْ وَيَأْمَنُوا قَوْمَهُمْ جَعَلْنَا لَكُمْ عَلَيْهِمْ سُلْطَانًا مُبِينًا (النساء ٩١) You will find others who wish to obtain security from you and [to] obtain security from their NATION. (Qur’an 4:91) فَإِنْ كَانَ مِنْ قَوْمٍ عَدُوٍّ لَكُمْ وَهُوَ مُؤْمِنٌ فَتَحْرِيرُ رَقَبَةٍ مُؤْمِنَةٍ ۖ وَإِنْ كَانَ مِنْ قَوْمٍ بَيْنَكُمْ وَبَيْنَهُمْ مِيثَاقٌ فَدِيَةٌ مُسَلَّمَةٌ إِلَىٰ أَهْلِهِ وَتَحْرِيرُ رَقَبَةٍ مُؤْمِنَةٍ ۖ (النساء ٩٢) But if the deceased was from a NATION at war with you and he was a believer - then [only] the freeing of a believing slave; and if he was from a NATION with whom you have a treaty - then a compensation payment presented to his family and the freeing of a believing slave. (Qur’an 4:92) وَلَا تَهِنُوا فِي ابْتِغَاءِ الْقَوْمِ ۖ (النساء ١٠٤) And do not weaken in pursuit of the enemy NATION. (Qur’an 4:104) وَلَا يَجْرِمَنَّكُمْ شَنَآنُ قَوْمٍ أَنْ صَدُّوكُمْ عَنِ الْمَسْجِدِ الْحَرَامِ أَنْ تَعْتَدُوا ۘ (المائدة ٢) And do not let the hatred of a NATION for having obstructed you from al-Masjid al-Haram lead you to transgress. (Qur’an 5:2) يَا أَيُّهَا الَّذِينَ آمَنُوا كُونُوا قَوَّامِينَ لِلَّهِ شُهَدَاءَ بِالْقِسْطِ ۖ وَلَا يَجْرِمَنَّكُمْ شَنَآنُ قَوْمٍ عَلَىٰ أَلَّا تَعْدِلُوا ۚ اعْدِلُوا هُوَ أَقْرَبُ لِلتَّقْوَىٰ ۖ (المائدة ٨) O you who have believed, be persistently standing firm for Allah, witnesses in justice, and do not let the hatred of a NATION prevent you from being just. (Qur’an 5:8) يَا أَيُّهَا الَّذِينَ آمَنُوا اذْكُرُوا نِعْمَتَ اللَّهِ عَلَيْكُمْ إِذْ هَمَّ قَوْمٌ أَنْ يَبْسُطُوا إِلَيْكُمْ أَيْدِيَهُمْ فَكَفَّ أَيْدِيَهُمْ عَنْكُمْ ۖ وَاتَّقُوا اللَّهَ ۚ وَعَلَى اللَّهِ فَلْيَتَوَكَّلِ الْمُؤْمِنُونَ (المائدة ١١) O you who have believed, remember the favour of Allah upon you when a NATION determined to extend their hands [in aggression] against you, but He withheld their hands from you; and fear Allah. And upon Allah let the believers rely. (Qur’an 5:11) وَإِذْ قَالَ مُوسَىٰ لِقَوْمِهِ يَا قَوْمِ اذْكُرُوا نِعْمَةَ اللَّهِ عَلَيْكُمْ إِذْ جَعَلَ فِيكُمْ أَنْبِيَاءَ وَجَعَلَكُمْ مُلُوكًا وَآتَاكُمْ مَا لَمْ يُؤْتِ أَحَدًا مِنَ الْعَالَمِينَ (المائدة ٢٠) And [mention, O Muhammad], when Moses said to his NATION, "O my NATION, remember the favour of Allah upon you when He appointed among you prophets and made you RULERS and gave that not given to anyone among the worlds. (Qur’an 5:20) يَا قَوْمِ ادْخُلُوا الْأَرْضَ الْمُقَدَّسَةَ الَّتِي كَتَبَ اللَّهُ لَكُمْ وَلَا تَرْتَدُّوا عَلَىٰ أَدْبَارِكُمْ فَتَنْقَلِبُوا خَاسِرِينَ (المائدة ٢١) O my NATION, enter the Holy Land which Allah has assigned to you and do not turn back [from fighting in Allah 's cause] and become losers." (Qur’an 5:21) قَالَ فَإِنَّهَا مُحَرَّمَةٌ عَلَيْهِمْ ۛ أَرْبَعِينَ سَنَةً ۛ يَتِيهُونَ فِي الْأَرْضِ ۚ فَلَا تَأْسَ عَلَى الْقَوْمِ الْفَاسِقِينَ (المائدة ٢٦) [ Allah ] said, "Then Indeed, it is forbidden to them for forty years [in which] they will wander throughout the land. So do not grieve over the disobedient NATION." (Qur’an 5:26) وَمِنَ الَّذِينَ هَادُوا ۛ سَمَّاعُونَ لِلْكَذِبِ سَمَّاعُونَ لِقَوْمٍ آخَرِينَ لَمْ يَأْتُوكَ ۖ (المائدة ٤١) [They are] avid listeners to falsehood, listening to another NATION who have not come to you. (Qur’an 5:41) أَفَحُكْمَ الْجَاهِلِيَّةِ يَبْغُونَ ۚ وَمَنْ أَحْسَنُ مِنَ اللَّهِ حُكْمًا لِقَوْمٍ يُوقِنُونَ (المائدة ٥٠) Then is it the judgement of [the time of] ignorance they desire? But who is better than Allah in judgement for a NATION who are certain [in faith]. (Qur’an 5:50) إِنَّ اللَّهَ لَا يَهْدِي الْقَوْمَ الظَّالِمِينَ (المائدة ٥١) Indeed, Allah guides not the oppressive NATION. (Qur’an 5:51) يَا أَيُّهَا الَّذِينَ آمَنُوا مَنْ يَرْتَدَّ مِنْكُمْ عَنْ دِينِهِ فَسَوْفَ يَأْتِي اللَّهُ بِقَوْمٍ يُحِبُّهُمْ وَيُحِبُّونَهُ (المائدة ٥٤) O you who have believed, whoever of you should revert from his deen - Allah will bring forth [in place of them] a NATION He will love and who will love Him... (Qur’an 5:54) ذَٰلِكَ بِأَنَّهُمْ قَوْمٌ لَا يَعْقِلُونَ (المائدة ٥٨) That is because they are a NATION who do not use reason. (Qur’an 5:58) يَا أَيُّهَا الرَّسُولُ بَلِّغْ مَا أُنْزِلَ إِلَيْكَ مِنْ رَبِّكَ ۖ وَإِنْ لَمْ تَفْعَلْ فَمَا بَلَّغْتَ رِسَالَتَهُ ۚ وَاللَّهُ يَعْصِمُكَ مِنَ النَّاسِ ۗ إِنَّ اللَّهَ لَا يَهْدِي الْقَوْمَ الْكَافِرِينَ (المائدة ٦٧) O Messenger, announce that which has been revealed to you from your Lord, and if you do not, then you have not conveyed His message. And Allah will protect you from the NATION. Indeed, Allah does not guide the disbelieving NATION. (Qur’an 5:67) فَلَا تَأْسَ عَلَى الْقَوْمِ الْكَافِرِينَ (المائدة ٦٨) So do not grieve over the disbelieving NATION. (Qur’an 5:68) قُلْ يَا أَهْلَ الْكِتَابِ لَا تَغْلُوا فِي دِينِكُمْ غَيْرَ الْحَقِّ وَلَا تَتَّبِعُوا أَهْوَاءَ قَوْمٍ قَدْ ضَلُّوا مِنْ قَبْلُ وَأَضَلُّوا كَثِيرًا وَضَلُّوا عَنْ سَوَاءِ السَّبِيلِ (المائدة ٧٧) Say, "O People of the Scripture, do not exceed limits in your deen beyond the truth and do not follow the inclinations of a NATION who had gone astray before and misled many and have strayed from the soundness of the way." (Qur’an 5:77) وَمَا لَنَا لَا نُؤْمِنُ بِاللَّهِ وَمَا جَاءَنَا مِنَ الْحَقِّ وَنَطْمَعُ أَنْ يُدْخِلَنَا رَبُّنَا مَعَ الْقَوْمِ الصَّالِحِينَ (المائدة ٨٤) And why should we not believe in Allah and what has come to us of the truth? And we aspire that our Lord will admit us [to Paradise] with the righteous NATION." (Qur’an 5:84) قَدْ سَأَلَهَا قَوْمٌ مِنْ قَبْلِكُمْ ثُمَّ أَصْبَحُوا بِهَا كَافِرِينَ (المائدة ١٠٢) Certainly some NATION asked about them before you and then came to disbelieve in them. (Qur’an 5:102) وَاللَّهُ لَا يَهْدِي الْقَوْمَ الْفَاسِقِينَ (المائدة ١٠٨) And fear Allah and listen; and Allah does not guide the defiantly disobedient NATION. (Qur’an 5:108) فَقُطِعَ دَابِرُ الْقَوْمِ الَّذِينَ ظَلَمُوا ۚ وَالْحَمْدُ لِلَّهِ رَبِّ الْعَالَمِينَ (الأنعام ٤٥) So the NATION that committed wrong were eliminated. And praise to Allah, Lord of the worlds. (Qur’an 6:45) قُلْ أَرَأَيْتَكُمْ إِنْ أَتَاكُمْ عَذَابُ اللَّهِ بَغْتَةً أَوْ جَهْرَةً هَلْ يُهْلَكُ إِلَّا الْقَوْمُ الظَّالِمُونَ (الأنعام ٤٧) Say, "Have you considered: if the punishment of Allah should come to you unexpectedly or manifestly, will any be destroyed but the oppressive NATION?" (Qur’an 6:47) وَكَذَّبَ بِهِ قَوْمُكَ وَهُوَ الْحَقُّ ۚ قُلْ لَسْتُ عَلَيْكُمْ بِوَكِيلٍ (الأنعام ٦٦) But your NATION have denied it while it is the truth. Say, "I am not over you a manager." (Qur’an 6:66) وَإِمَّا يُنْسِيَنَّكَ الشَّيْطَانُ فَلَا تَقْعُدْ بَعْدَ الذِّكْرَىٰ مَعَ الْقَوْمِ الظَّالِمِينَ (الأنعام ٦٨) And if Satan should cause you to forget, then do not remain after the reminder with the oppressive NATION. (Qur’an 6:68) إِنِّي أَرَاكَ وَقَوْمَكَ فِي ضَلَالٍ مُبِينٍ (الأنعام ٧٤) Indeed, I see you and your NATION to be in manifest error." (Qur’an 74) فَلَمَّا أَفَلَ قَالَ لَئِنْ لَمْ يَهْدِنِي رَبِّي لَأَكُونَنَّ مِنَ الْقَوْمِ الضَّالِّينَ (الأنعام ٧٧) But when it set, he said, "Unless my Lord guides me, I will surely be among the NATION gone astray." (Qur’an 6:77) فَلَمَّا أَفَلَتْ قَالَ يَا قَوْمِ إِنِّي بَرِيءٌ مِمَّا تُشْرِكُونَ (الأنعام ٧٨) But when it set, he said, ‘O my NATION, Indeed, I disown what you take as [His] partners.’ (Qur’an 6:78) وَحَاجَّهُ قَوْمُهُ ۚ (الأنعام ٨٠) And his NATION argued with him. (Qur’an 6:80) وَتِلْكَ حُجَّتُنَا آتَيْنَاهَا إِبْرَاهِيمَ عَلَىٰ قَوْمِهِ ۚ نَرْفَعُ دَرَجَاتٍ مَنْ نَشَاءُ ۗ (الأنعام ٨٣) And that was Our [conclusive] argument which We gave Abraham against his NATION.(Qur’an 6:83) فَإِنْ يَكْفُرْ بِهَا هَٰؤُلَاءِ فَقَدْ وَكَّلْنَا بِهَا قَوْمًا لَيْسُوا بِهَا بِكَافِرِينَ (الأنعام ٨٩) But if the disbelievers deny it, then We have entrusted it to a NATION who are not therein disbelievers. (Qur’an 6:89) وَهُوَ الَّذِي جَعَلَ لَكُمُ النُّجُومَ لِتَهْتَدُوا بِهَا فِي ظُلُمَاتِ الْبَرِّ وَالْبَحْرِ ۗ قَدْ فَصَّلْنَا الْآيَاتِ لِقَوْمٍ يَعْلَمُونَ (الأنعام ٩٧) And it is He who placed for you the stars that you may be guided by them through the darknesses of the land and sea. We have detailed the signs for a NATION who know. (Qur’an 6:97) وَهُوَ الَّذِي أَنْشَأَكُمْ مِنْ نَفْسٍ وَاحِدَةٍ فَمُسْتَقَرٌّ وَمُسْتَوْدَعٌ ۗ قَدْ فَصَّلْنَا الْآيَاتِ لِقَوْمٍ يَفْقَهُونَ (الأنعام ٩٨) And it is He who produced you from one soul and [gave you] a place of dwelling and of storage. We have detailed the signs for a NATION who understand. (Qur’an 6:98) وإِنَّ فِي ذَٰلِكُمْ لَآيَاتٍ لِقَوْمٍ يُؤْمِنُونَ (الأنعام ٩٩) Indeed, in that are signs for a NATION who believe. (Qur’an 6:99) وَكَذَٰلِكَ نُصَرِّفُ الْآيَاتِ وَلِيَقُولُوا دَرَسْتَ وَلِنُبَيِّنَهُ لِقَوْمٍ يَعْلَمُونَ (الأنعام ١٠٥) And thus do We diversify the verses so the disbelievers will say, "You have studied," and so We may make the Qur'an clear for a NATION who know. (Qur’an 6:105) وَهَٰذَا صِرَاطُ رَبِّكَ مُسْتَقِيمًا ۗ قَدْ فَصَّلْنَا الْآيَاتِ لِقَوْمٍ يَذَّكَّرُونَ (الأنعام ١٢٦) And this is the path of your Lord, [leading] straight. We have detailed the verses for a NATION who remember. (Qur’an 6:126) إِنْ يَشَأْ يُذْهِبْكُمْ وَيَسْتَخْلِفْ مِنْ بَعْدِكُمْ مَا يَشَاءُ كَمَا أَنْشَأَكُمْ مِنْ ذُرِّيَّةِ قَوْمٍ آخَرِينَ (الأنعام ١٣٣) If He wills, he can do away with you and give succession after you to whomever He wills, just as He produced you from the descendants of another NATION. (Qur’an 6:133) قُلْ يَا قَوْمِ اعْمَلُوا عَلَىٰ مَكَانَتِكُمْ إِنِّي عَامِلٌ ۖ فَسَوْفَ تَعْلَمُونَ مَنْ تَكُونُ لَهُ عَاقِبَةُ الدَّارِ ۗ (الأنعام ١٣٥) Say, "O my NATION, work according to your position; [for] Indeed, I am working. And you are going to know who will have succession in the home. (Qur’an 6:135) فَمَنْ أَظْلَمُ مِمَّنِ افْتَرَىٰ عَلَى اللَّهِ كَذِبًا لِيُضِلَّ النَّاسَ بِغَيْرِ عِلْمٍ ۗ إِنَّ اللَّهَ لَا يَهْدِي الْقَوْمَ الظَّالِمِينَ (الأنعام ١٤٤) Then who is more unjust than one who invents a lie about Allah to mislead the NATION by [something] other than knowledge? Indeed, Allah does not guide the oppressive NATION." (Qur’an 6:144) فَإِنْ كَذَّبُوكَ فَقُلْ رَبُّكُمْ ذُو رَحْمَةٍ وَاسِعَةٍ وَلَا يُرَدُّ بَأْسُهُ عَنِ الْقَوْمِ الْمُجْرِمِينَ (الأنعام ١٤٧) So if they deny you, [O Muhammad], say, "Your Lord is the possessor of vast mercy; but His punishment cannot be repelled from the NATION who are criminals." (Qur’an 6:147) وَإِذَا صُرِفَتْ أَبْصَارُهُمْ تِلْقَاءَ أَصْحَابِ النَّارِ قَالُوا رَبَّنَا لَا تَجْعَلْنَا مَعَ الْقَوْمِ الظَّالِمِينَ (الأعراف ٤٧) And when their eyes are turned toward the companions of the Fire, they say, "Our Lord, do not place us with the oppressive NATION." (Qur’an 7:47) وَلَقَدْ جِئْنَاهُمْ بِكِتَابٍ فَصَّلْنَاهُ عَلَىٰ عِلْمٍ هُدًى وَرَحْمَةً لِقَوْمٍ يُؤْمِنُونَ (الأعراف ٥٢) And We had certainly brought them a Book which We detailed by knowledge - as guidance and mercy to a NATION who believe. (Qur’an 7:52) كَذَٰلِكَ نُصَرِّفُ الْآيَاتِ لِقَوْمٍ يَشْكُرُونَ (الأعراف ٥٨) Thus do We diversify the signs for a NATION that is grateful. (Qur’an 7:58) لَقَدْ أَرْسَلْنَا نُوحًا إِلَىٰ قَوْمِهِ فَقَالَ يَا قَوْمِ اعْبُدُوا اللَّهَ مَا لَكُمْ مِنْ إِلَٰهٍ غَيْرُهُ إِنِّي أَخَافُ عَلَيْكُمْ عَذَابَ يَوْمٍ عَظِيمٍ (الأعراف ٥٩) Certainly We sent Noah to his NATION. He said, ‘O my NATION, serve Allah! You have no other god besides Him. Indeed, I fear for you the punishment of a tremendous day.’ (Qur’an 7:59) قَالَ الْمَلَأُ مِنْ قَوْمِهِ إِنَّا لَنَرَاكَ فِي ضَلَالٍ مُبِينٍ (الأعراف ٦٠) Said the elites among his NATION, "Indeed, we see you in clear error." (Qur’an 7:60) قَالَ يَا قَوْمِ لَيْسَ بِي ضَلَالَةٌ وَلَٰكِنِّي رَسُولٌ مِنْ رَبِّ الْعَالَمِينَ (الأعراف ٦١) He said, ‘O my NATION, I am not in error. Rather I am an messenger from the Lord of all the worlds. (Qur’an 7:61) فَكَذَّبُوهُ فَأَنْجَيْنَاهُ وَالَّذِينَ مَعَهُ فِي الْفُلْكِ وَأَغْرَقْنَا الَّذِينَ كَذَّبُوا بِآيَاتِنَا ۚ إِنَّهُمْ كَانُوا قَوْمًا عَمِينَ (الأعراف ٦٤) But they denied him, so We saved him and those who were with him in the ship. And We drowned those who denied Our signs. Indeed, they were a blind NATION. (Qur’an 7:64) وَإِلَىٰ عَادٍ أَخَاهُمْ هُودًا ۗ قَالَ يَا قَوْمِ اعْبُدُوا اللَّهَ مَا لَكُمْ مِنْ إِلَٰهٍ غَيْرُهُ ۚ أَفَلَا تَتَّقُونَ (الأعراف ٦٥) And to the 'Aad [We sent] their brother Hud. He said, "O my NATION, serve Allah; you have no deity other than Him. Then will you not fear Him?" (Qur’an 7:65) قَالَ الْمَلَأُ الَّذِينَ كَفَرُوا مِنْ قَوْمِهِ إِنَّا لَنَرَاكَ فِي سَفَاهَةٍ وَإِنَّا لَنَظُنُّكَ مِنَ الْكَاذِبِينَ (الأعراف ٦٦) Said the elites ones who disbelieved among his NATION, "Indeed, we see you in foolishness, and Indeed, we think you are of the liars." (Qur’an 7:66) قالَ يا قَومِ لَيسَ بي سَفاهَةٌ وَلٰكِنّي رَسولٌ مِن رَبِّ العالَمينَ [Hud] said, "O my NATION, there is not foolishness in me, but I am a messenger from the Lord of the worlds." (Qur’an 7:67) وَاذْكُرُوا إِذْ جَعَلَكُمْ خُلَفَاءَ مِنْ بَعْدِ قَوْمِ نُوحٍ وَزَادَكُمْ فِي الْخَلْقِ بَسْطَةً ۖ فَاذْكُرُوا آلَاءَ اللَّهِ لَعَلَّكُمْ تُفْلِحُونَ (الأعراف ٦٩) And remember when He made you successors after the NATION of Noah and increased you in stature extensively. So remember the favours of Allah that you might succeed. (Qur’an 7:69) وَإِلَىٰ ثَمُودَ أَخَاهُمْ صَالِحًا ۗ قَالَ يَا قَوْمِ اعْبُدُوا اللَّهَ مَا لَكُمْ مِنْ إِلَٰهٍ غَيْرُهُ ۖ (الأعراف ٧٣) And to the Thamud [We sent] their brother Salih. He said, "O my NATION, serve Allah; you have no deity other than Him. (Qur’an 7:73) قَالَ الْمَلَأُ الَّذِينَ اسْتَكْبَرُوا مِنْ قَوْمِهِ لِلَّذِينَ اسْتُضْعِفُوا (الأعراف ٧٥) Said the elites ones who were arrogant among his NATION to those who were oppressed..." (Qur’an 7:75) فَتَوَلَّىٰ عَنْهُمْ وَقَالَ يَا قَوْمِ لَقَدْ أَبْلَغْتُكُمْ رِسَالَةَ رَبِّي وَنَصَحْتُ لَكُمْ وَلَٰكِنْ لَا تُحِبُّونَ النَّاصِحِينَ (الأعراف ٧٩) And he turned away from them and said, "O my NATION, I had certainly conveyed to you the message of my Lord and advised you, but you do not like advisors." (Qur’an 7:79) وَلُوطًا إِذْ قَالَ لِقَوْمِهِ أَتَأْتُونَ الْفَاحِشَةَ مَا سَبَقَكُمْ بِهَا مِنْ أَحَدٍ مِنَ الْعَالَمِينَ (الأعراف ٨٠) And [We had sent] Lot when he said to his NATION, "Do you commit such immorality as no one has preceded you with from among the worlds? (Qur’an 7:80) إِنَّكُمْ لَتَأْتُونَ الرِّجَالَ شَهْوَةً مِنْ دُونِ النِّسَاءِ ۚ بَلْ أَنْتُمْ قَوْمٌ مُسْرِفُونَ (الأعراف ٨١) Indeed, you approach men with desire, instead of women. Rather, you are a transgressing NATION." (Qur’an 7:81) وَمَا كَانَ جَوَابَ قَوْمِهِ إِلَّا أَنْ قَالُوا أَخْرِجُوهُمْ مِنْ قَرْيَتِكُمْ ۖ إِنَّهُمْ أُنَاسٌ يَتَطَهَّرُونَ (الأعراف ٨٢) But the answer of his NATION was only that they said, "Evict them from your city! Indeed, they are men who keep themselves pure." (Qur’an 7:82) وَإِلَىٰ مَدْيَنَ أَخَاهُمْ شُعَيْبًا ۗ قَالَ يَا قَوْمِ اعْبُدُوا اللَّهَ مَا لَكُمْ مِنْ إِلَٰهٍ غَيْرُهُ ۖ (الأعراف ٨٥) And to [the NATION of] Madyan [We sent] their brother Shu'ayb. He said, "O my NATION, serve Allah; you have no deity other than Him. (Qur’an 7:85) قَالَ الْمَلَأُ الَّذِينَ اسْتَكْبَرُوا مِنْ قَوْمِهِ لَنُخْرِجَنَّكَ يَا شُعَيْبُ وَالَّذِينَ آمَنُوا مَعَكَ مِنْ قَرْيَتِنَا أَوْ لَتَعُودُنَّ فِي مِلَّتِنَا ۚ (الأعراف ٨٨) Said the elites ones who were arrogant among his NATION, "We will surely evict you, O Shu'ayb, and those who have believed with you from our city, or you must return to our millah." (Qur’an 7:88) رَبَّنَا افْتَحْ بَيْنَنَا وَبَيْنَ قَوْمِنَا بِالْحَقِّ وَأَنْتَ خَيْرُ الْفَاتِحِينَ (الأعراف ٨٩) Our Lord, decide between us and our NATION in truth, and You are the best of those who give decision." (Qur’an 7:89) وَقَالَ الْمَلَأُ الَّذِينَ كَفَرُوا مِنْ قَوْمِهِ لَئِنِ اتَّبَعْتُمْ شُعَيْبًا إِنَّكُمْ إِذًا لَخَاسِرُونَ (الأعراف ٩٠) Said the elites who disbelieved among his NATION, "If you should follow Shu'ayb, Indeed, you would then be losers." (Qur’an 7:90) فَتَوَلَّىٰ عَنْهُمْ وَقَالَ يَا قَوْمِ لَقَدْ أَبْلَغْتُكُمْ رِسَالَاتِ رَبِّي وَنَصَحْتُ لَكُمْ ۖ فَكَيْفَ آسَىٰ عَلَىٰ قَوْمٍ كَافِرِينَ (الأعراف ٩٣) And he turned away from them and said, "O my NATION, I had certainly conveyed to you the messages of my Lord and advised you, so how could I grieve for a disbelieving NATION?" (Qur’an 7:93) أَفَأَمِنُوا مَكْرَ اللَّهِ ۚ فَلَا يَأْمَنُ مَكْرَ اللَّهِ إِلَّا الْقَوْمُ الْخَاسِرُونَ (الأعراف ٩٩) Then did they feel secure from the plan of Allah? But no one feels secure from the plan of Allah except the losing NATION. (Qur’an 7:99) قَالَ الْمَلَأُ مِنْ قَوْمِ فِرْعَوْنَ إِنَّ هَٰذَا لَسَاحِرٌ عَلِيمٌ (الأعراف ١٠٤) Said the elites among the NATION of Pharaoh, "Indeed, this is a learned magician" (Qur’an 7:109) وَقَالَ الْمَلَأُ مِنْ قَوْمِ فِرْعَوْنَ (الأعراف ١٢٧) And the elites among the NATION of Pharaoh said… (Qur’an 7:127) قَالَ مُوسَىٰ لِقَوْمِهِ اسْتَعِينُوا بِاللَّهِ وَاصْبِرُوا ۖ (الأعراف ١٢٨) Said Moses to his NATION, "Seek help through Allah and be patient.” (Qur’an 7:128) فَأَرْسَلْنَا عَلَيْهِمُ الطُّوفَانَ وَالْجَرَادَ وَالْقُمَّلَ وَالضَّفَادِعَ وَالدَّمَ آيَاتٍ مُفَصَّلَاتٍ فَاسْتَكْبَرُوا وَكَانُوا قَوْمًا مُجْرِمِينَ (الأعراف ١٣٣) So We sent upon them the flood and locusts and lice and frogs and blood as distinct signs, but they were arrogant and were a criminal NATION. (Qur’an 7:133) وَأَوْرَثْنَا الْقَوْمَ الَّذِينَ كَانُوا يُسْتَضْعَفُونَ مَشَارِقَ الْأَرْضِ وَمَغَارِبَهَا (الأعراف ١٣٧) And We caused the NATION who had been oppressed to inherit the eastern regions of the land and the western ones.... (Qur’an 7:137) وَجَاوَزْنَا بِبَنِي إِسْرَائِيلَ الْبَحْرَ فَأَتَوْا عَلَىٰ قَوْمٍ يَعْكُفُونَ عَلَىٰ أَصْنَامٍ لَهُمْ ۚ قَالُوا يَا مُوسَى اجْعَلْ لَنَا إِلَٰهًا كَمَا لَهُمْ آلِهَةٌ ۚ قَالَ إِنَّكُمْ قَوْمٌ تَجْهَلُونَ (الأعراف ١٣٨) And We took the Children of Israel across the sea; then they came upon a NATION intent in devotion to [some] idols of theirs. They said, "O Moses, make for us a god just as they have gods." He said, "Indeed, you are a NATION behaving ignorantly. (Qur’an 7:138) وَقَالَ مُوسَىٰ لِأَخِيهِ هَارُونَ اخْلُفْنِي فِي قَوْمِي وَأَصْلِحْ وَلَا تَتَّبِعْ سَبِيلَ الْمُفْسِدِينَ (الأعراف ١٤٢) And Moses said to his brother Aaron, "Take my place among my NATION, do right [by them], and do not follow the way of the corrupters." (Qur’an 7:142) فَخُذْهَا بِقُوَّةٍ وَأْمُرْ قَوْمَكَ يَأْخُذُوا بِأَحْسَنِهَا ۚ (الأعراف ١٤٥) Take them with determination and order your NATION to take the best of it. (Qur’an 7:145) وَاتَّخَذَ قَوْمُ مُوسَىٰ مِنْ بَعْدِهِ مِنْ حُلِيِّهِمْ عِجْلًا ۚ (الأعراف ١٤٨) And the NATION of Moses made, after [his departure], from their ornaments a calf... (Qur’an 7:148) وَلَمَّا رَجَعَ مُوسَىٰ إِلَىٰ قَوْمِهِ غَضْبَانَ أَسِفًا (الأعراف ١٥٠) And when Moses returned to his NATION, angry and grieved… (Qur’an 7:150) وَاخْتَارَ مُوسَىٰ قَوْمَهُ سَبْعِينَ رَجُلًا لِمِيقَاتِنَا ۖ (الأعراف ١٥٥) And Moses chose from his NATION seventy men for Our appointment… (Qur’an 7:155) وَمِنْ قَوْمِ مُوسَىٰ أُمَّةٌ يَهْدُونَ بِالْحَقِّ وَبِهِ يَعْدِلُونَ (الأعراف ١٥٩) And among the NATION of Moses is a community which guides by truth and by it establishes justice. (Qur’an 7:159) وَأَوْحَيْنَا إِلَىٰ مُوسَىٰ إِذِ اسْتَسْقَاهُ قَوْمُهُ أَنِ اضْرِبْ بِعَصَاكَ الْحَجَرَ (الأعراف ١٦٠) And We inspired to Moses when his NATION implored him for water… (Qur’an 7:160) وَإِذْ قَالَتْ أُمَّةٌ مِنْهُمْ لِمَ تَعِظُونَ قَوْمًا ۙ اللَّهُ مُهْلِكُهُمْ أَوْ مُعَذِّبُهُمْ عَذَابًا شَدِيدًا ۖ (الأعراف ١٦٤) And when a community among them said, "Why do you advise [or warn] a NATION whom Allah is [about] to destroy or to punish with a severe punishment?" (Qur’an 7:164) ذَٰلِكَ مَثَلُ الْقَوْمِ الَّذِينَ كَذَّبُوا بِآيَاتِنَا ۚ فَاقْصُصِ الْقَصَصَ لَعَلَّهُمْ يَتَفَكَّرُونَ (الأعراف ١٧٦) That is the example of the NATION who denied Our signs. So relate the stories that perhaps they will give thought. (Qur’an 7:176) سَاءَ مَثَلًا الْقَوْمُ الَّذِينَ كَذَّبُوا بِآيَاتِنَا وَأَنْفُسَهُمْ كَانُوا يَظْلِمُونَ (الأعراف ١٧٧) How evil an example [is that of] the NATION who denied Our signs and used to wrong themselves. (Qur’an 7:177) إِنْ أَنَا إِلَّا نَذِيرٌ وَبَشِيرٌ لِقَوْمٍ يُؤْمِنُونَ (الأعراف ١٨٨) I am not except a warner and a bringer of good tidings to a NATION who believe." (Qur’an 7:188) هَٰذَا بَصَائِرُ مِنْ رَبِّكُمْ وَهُدًى وَرَحْمَةٌ لِقَوْمٍ يُؤْمِنُونَ (الأعراف ٢٠٣) This [Qur'an] is enlightenment from your Lord and guidance and mercy for a NATION who believe." (Qur’an 7:203) ذَٰلِكَ بِأَنَّ اللَّهَ لَمْ يَكُ مُغَيِّرًا نِعْمَةً أَنْعَمَهَا عَلَىٰ قَوْمٍ حَتَّىٰ يُغَيِّرُوا مَا بِأَنْفُسِهِمْ (الأنفال ٥٣) That is because Allah would not change a favour which He had bestowed upon a NATION until they change what is within themselves. (Qur’an 8:53) وَإِمَّا تَخَافَنَّ مِنْ قَوْمٍ خِيَانَةً فَانْبِذْ إِلَيْهِمْ عَلَىٰ سَوَاءٍ (الأنفال ٥٨) If you fear from a NATION betrayal, throw [their treaty] back to them, [putting you] on equal terms. (Qur’an 8:58) وَإِنْ يَكُنْ مِنْكُمْ مِائَةٌ يَغْلِبُوا أَلْفًا مِنَ الَّذِينَ كَفَرُوا بِأَنَّهُمْ قَوْمٌ لَا يَفْقَهُونَ (الأنفال ٦٥) And if there are among you one hundred [who are] steadfast, they will overcome a thousand of those who have disbelieved because they are a NATION who do not understand. (Qur’an 8:65) وَإِنِ اسْتَنْصَرُوكُمْ فِي الدِّينِ فَعَلَيْكُمُ النَّصْرُ إِلَّا عَلَىٰ قَوْمٍ بَيْنَكُمْ وَبَيْنَهُمْ مِيثَاقٌ ۗ (الأنفال ٧٢) And if they seek help of you for the deen, then you must help, except against a NATION between yourselves and whom is a treaty. (Qur’an 8:72) ذَٰلِكَ بِأَنَّهُمْ قَوْمٌ لَا يَعْلَمُونَ (التوبة ٦) That is because they are a NATION who do not know. (Qur’an 9:6) وَنُفَصِّلُ الْآيَاتِ لِقَوْمٍ يَعْلَمُونَ (التوبة ١١) We detail the verses for a NATION who know. (Qur’an 9:11) أَلَا تُقَاتِلُونَ قَوْمًا نَكَثُوا أَيْمَانَهُمْ وَهَمُّوا بِإِخْرَاجِ الرَّسُولِ وَهُمْ بَدَءُوكُمْ أَوَّلَ مَرَّةٍ ۚ (التوبة ١٣) Would you not fight a NATION who broke their oaths and determined to expel the Messenger, and they had begun [the attack upon] you the first time (Qur’an 9:13) قَاتِلُوهُمْ يُعَذِّبْهُمُ اللَّهُ بِأَيْدِيكُمْ وَيُخْزِهِمْ وَيَنْصُرْكُمْ عَلَيْهِمْ وَيَشْفِ صُدُورَ قَوْمٍ مُؤْمِنِينَ (التوبة ١٤) Fight them; Allah will punish them by your hands and will disgrace them and give you victory over them and satisfy the breasts of a believing NATION (Qur’an 9:14) لَا يَسْتَوُونَ عِنْدَ اللَّهِ ۗ وَاللَّهُ لَا يَهْدِي الْقَوْمَ الظَّالِمِينَ (التوبة ١٩) They are not equal in the sight of Allah. And Allah does not guide the oppressive NATION. (Qur’an 9:19) وَاللَّهُ لَا يَهْدِي الْقَوْمَ الْفَاسِقِينَ (التوبة ٢٤) Allah does not guide the defiantly disobedient NATION." (Qur’an 9:24) إِلَّا تَنْفِرُوا يُعَذِّبْكُمْ عَذَابًا أَلِيمًا وَيَسْتَبْدِلْ قَوْمًا غَيْرَكُمْ وَلَا تَضُرُّوهُ شَيْئًا ۗ (التوبة ٣٩) If you do not go forth, He will punish you with a painful punishment and will replace you with another NATION, and you will not harm Him at all. (Qur’an 9:39) إِنَّكُمْ كُنْتُمْ قَوْمًا فَاسِقِينَ (التوبة ٥٣) Indeed, you have been a defiantly disobedient NATION." (Qur’an 9:53) إِنَّ فِي اخْتِلَافِ اللَّيْلِ وَالنَّهَارِ وَمَا خَلَقَ اللَّهُ فِي السَّمَاوَاتِ وَالْأَرْضِ لَآيَاتٍ لِقَوْمٍ يَتَّقُونَ (يونس ٦) Indeed, in the alternation of the night and the day and [in] what Allah has created in the heavens and the earth are signs for a NATION who fear Allah (Qur’an 10:6) ثُمَّ بَعَثْنَا مِنْ بَعْدِهِمْ مُوسَىٰ وَهَارُونَ إِلَىٰ فِرْعَوْنَ وَمَلَئِهِ بِآيَاتِنَا فَاسْتَكْبَرُوا وَكَانُوا قَوْمًا مُجْرِمِينَ (يونس ٧٥) Then We sent after them Moses and Aaron to Pharaoh and his establishment with Our signs, but they behaved arrogantly and were a criminal NATION (Qur’an 10:75) فَقَالُوا عَلَى اللَّهِ تَوَكَّلْنَا رَبَّنَا لَا تَجْعَلْنَا فِتْنَةً لِلْقَوْمِ الظَّالِمِينَ (يونس ٨٥) So they said, "Upon Allah do we rely. Our Lord, make us not [objects of] trial for the oppressive NATION (Qur’an 10:85) وَنَجِّنَا بِرَحْمَتِكَ مِنَ الْقَوْمِ الْكَافِرِينَ (يونس ٨٦) And save us by Your mercy from the disbelieving NATION." (Qur’an 10:86) قُلِ انْظُرُوا مَاذَا فِي السَّمَاوَاتِ وَالْأَرْضِ ۚ وَمَا تُغْنِي الْآيَاتُ وَالنُّذُرُ عَنْ قَوْمٍ لَا يُؤْمِنُونَ (يونس ١٠١) Say, "Observe what is in the heavens and earth." But of no avail will be signs or warners to a NATION who do not believe (Qur’an 10:101) وَلَقَدْ أَرْسَلْنَا نُوحًا إِلَىٰ قَوْمِهِ إِنِّي لَكُمْ نَذِيرٌ مُبِينٌ (هود ٢٥) And We had certainly sent Noah to his NATION, [saying], " Indeed, I am to you a clear warner (Qur’an 11:25) وَيَا قَوْمِ مَنْ يَنْصُرُنِي مِنَ اللَّهِ إِنْ طَرَدْتُهُمْ ۚ أَفَلَا تَذَكَّرُونَ (هود ٣٠) And O my NATION, who would protect me from Allah if I drove them away? Then will you not be reminded? (Qur’an 11:30) وَيَا قَوْمِ أَوْفُوا الْمِكْيَالَ وَالْمِيزَانَ بِالْقِسْطِ ۖ وَلَا تَبْخَسُوا النَّاسَ أَشْيَاءَهُمْ وَلَا تَعْثَوْا فِي الْأَرْضِ مُفْسِدِينَ (هود ٨٥) And O my NATION, give full measure and weight in justice and do not deprive the NATION of their due and do not commit abuse on the earth, spreading corruption. (Qur’an 11:85) لَقَالُوا إِنَّمَا سُكِّرَتْ أَبْصَارُنَا بَلْ نَحْنُ قَوْمٌ مَسْحُورُونَ (الحجر ١٥) They would say, "Our eyes have only been dazzled. Rather, we are a NATION affected by magic." (Qur’an 15:15) قَالُوا إِنَّا أُرْسِلْنَا إِلَىٰ قَوْمٍ مُجْرِمِينَ (الحجر ٥٨) They said, "Indeed, we have been sent to a NATION of criminals, (Qur’an 15:58) قَالَ إِنَّكُمْ قَوْمٌ مُنْكَرُونَ (الحجر ٦٢) He said, "Indeed, you are NATION unknown." (Qur’an 15:62) حَتَّىٰ إِذَا بَلَغَ مَطْلِعَ الشَّمْسِ وَجَدَهَا تَطْلُعُ عَلَىٰ قَوْمٍ لَمْ نَجْعَلْ لَهُمْ مِنْ دُونِهَا سِتْرًا (الكهف ٩٠) Until, when he came to the rising of the sun, he found it rising on a NATION for whom We had not made against it any shield. (Qur’an 18:90) حَتَّىٰ إِذَا بَلَغَ بَيْنَ السَّدَّيْنِ وَجَدَ مِنْ دُونِهِمَا قَوْمًا لَا يَكَادُونَ يَفْقَهُونَ قَوْلً (الكهف ٩٣) Until, when he reached [a pass] between two mountains, he found beside them a NATION who could hardly understand [his] speech. (Qur’an 18:93) فَخَرَجَ عَلَىٰ قَوْمِهِ مِنَ الْمِحْرَابِ فَأَوْحَىٰ إِلَيْهِمْ أَنْ سَبِّحُوا بُكْرَةً وَعَشِيًّا (مريم ١١) So he came out to his NATION from the prayer chamber and signaled to them to exalt [ Allah ] in the morning and afternoon. (Qur’an 19:11) فَأَتَتْ بِهِ قَوْمَهَا تَحْمِلُهُ ۖ قَالُوا يَا مَرْيَمُ لَقَدْ جِئْتِ شَيْئًا فَرِيًّا (مريم ٢٧) Then she brought him to her NATION, carrying him. They said, "O Mary, you have certainly done a thing unprecedented. (Qur’an 19:27) فَإِنَّمَا يَسَّرْنَاهُ بِلِسَانِكَ لِتُبَشِّرَ بِهِ الْمُتَّقِينَ وَتُنْذِرَ بِهِ قَوْمًا لُدًّا (مريم ٩٧) So, [O Muhammad], We have only made Qur'an easy in the Arabic language that you may give good tidings thereby to the righteous and warn thereby a hostile NATION. (Qur’an 19:97) وَأَضَلَّ فِرْعَوْنُ قَوْمَهُ وَمَا هَدَىٰ (طه ٧٩) And Pharaoh led his NATION astray and did not guide [them]. (Qur’an 20:79) وَمَا أَعْجَلَكَ عَنْ قَوْمِكَ يَا مُوسَىٰ (طه ٨٣) [ Allah ] said, "And what made you hasten from your NATION, O Moses?" (Qur’an 20:83) إِذْ قَالَ لِأَبِيهِ وَقَوْمِهِ مَا هَٰذِهِ التَّمَاثِيلُ الَّتِي أَنْتُمْ لَهَا عَاكِفُونَ (الأنبياء ٥٢) When he said to his father and his NATION, "What are these statues to which you are devoted?" (Qur’an 21:52) وَلُوطًا آتَيْنَاهُ حُكْمًا وَعِلْمًا وَنَجَّيْنَاهُ مِنَ الْقَرْيَةِ الَّتِي كَانَتْ تَعْمَلُ الْخَبَائِثَ ۗ إِنَّهُمْ كَانُوا قَوْمَ سَوْءٍ فَاسِقِينَ (الأنبياء ٧٤) And to Lot We gave judgement and knowledge, and We saved him from the city that was committing wicked deeds. Indeed, they were a NATION of evil, defiantly disobedient. (Qur’an 21:74) وَنَصَرْنَاهُ مِنَ الْقَوْمِ الَّذِينَ كَذَّبُوا بِآيَاتِنَا ۚ إِنَّهُمْ كَانُوا قَوْمَ سَوْءٍ فَأَغْرَقْنَاهُمْ أَجْمَعِينَ (الأنبياء ٧٧) And We saved him from the NATION who denied Our signs. Indeed, they were a NATION of evil, so We drowned them, all together. (Qur’an 21:77) وَدَاوُودَ وَسُلَيْمَانَ إِذْ يَحْكُمَانِ فِي الْحَرْثِ إِذْ نَفَشَتْ فِيهِ غَنَمُ الْقَوْمِ وَكُنَّا لِحُكْمِهِمْ شَاهِدِينَ (الأنبياء ١٠٦) Indeed, in this [Qur'an] is notification for a worshipping NATION. (Qur’an 21:106)
